HIGHLIGHTED EVENTS
SAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
On Monday, August 29th, SAL deputies, SAL board members, and SSO volunteers made the 11th annual SAL golf tournament fundraiser a huge success. Over 160 golfers took to the green to help raise some green for all of SAL's youth programs. SAL would like to thank
HB Towing for being the Title Sponsor for this year's event. Without the generosity of businesses like HB Towing and too many others to list one by one, SAL would not be able to provide the continuous support to the wide variety of youth programs throughout Sacramento County. The big winners of the day are the youth but SAL would like to congratulate Team Whitfield, comprised of golfers Wayland Woodard, Jose Whitfield, Dwight Brown and Kelly Bunn, on their 1st place victory and winners of the putting challenge!
UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
August 14th at Rutter Park
SAL deputies, along with Sheriff Office personnel, transformed Rutter Park into an amazing walk about event filled with tasty barbeque, delicious ice cream and awesome booth displays. SAL would like to thank the youth volunteers from Youth Leadership Council, Florin Law Academy, Sheriff's Explorers Program, and Young Marines for their amazing efforts to make this Unity In The Community at Rutter Park one of the best to date! SAL's newest addition- the ice cream truck- was a big hit on a day that reached temperatures of almost 100 degrees! SAL would also like to thank the hundreds of community members for their huge turn out. Without the community, Unity In The Community events would not be a success.
Congrats Re-Entry on being the "People's Choice" booth winner

SAL Award for Distinguished Service presented to Deputy Wojnar
SAL would like to give a shout out to Giggle and Riot Funbooths and Sacramento Bounce House Rentals for graciously donating their time and equipment to the UIC events!
COMMUNITY EVENTS
Fill the Bus
School Supply Drive
On August 4th, SAL deputies and SAL youth volunteers set out to fill an entire school bus with classroom supplies for students in need throughout Sacramento County. Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and BJ's Brewhouse supported SAL's efforts by donating school supplies and providing lunch for the crews who were stationed at two local Walmarts. KNCI and Mix 96 D.J.s provided SAL volunteers with great music and a helping hand when it came time to load the supplies onto the bus. As a result of SAL's efforts, four local school districts were each provided with over fifty pounds of school supplies. SAL would like to thank Walmart for their continued support and assistance with the Fill the Bus event!
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
On August 2nd, the community hosted several events throughout Sacramento County, which the SAL team and SSO staff attended for National Night Out. These events allow first responders to connect with their community in a fun and safe environment. SAL Deputies Briggs and Chilelli, with SAL volunteer Tammy, enjoyed connecting with community members at Rio Linda Park; while SAL Deputies Wojnar and Hauck said hello to the residents of Casa Flores in South Sacramento.
UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute
SAL Deputy Hauck, UC Davis Police, SPD officers and Sacramento Metro Fire Department visited the UC Davis M.I.N.D. (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute on Wednesday, August 10th. SAL visited the M.I.N.D. Institute on three consecutive Wednesdays to provide the patients and their parents a morning of outside fun and discovery. This was the final summer camp event at the M.I.N.D. and SAL looks forward to connecting with more patients again next summer!
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
The SAL Ice Cream Truck was such a success at the Unity In The Community event, SAL Sergeant Flores and SAL deputies drove the truck to the Boys and Girls Club on Lemon Hill Avenue to handout some sweet treats to the campers.
After the campers ate their sweet treats, they worked off their sugar rushes by playing some basketball with SAL deputies and Boys and Girls Club staff members. It was an all-around great afternoon at the Boys and Girls Club.
RIVER CATS BASEBALL GAME
On August 3rd, SAL invited over fifty youth from SAL programs to enjoy a day of fun at the Sacramento River Cats baseball game. SAL youth members give back to the community at countless events and SAL Director Cary Trzcinski wanted to show how much their efforts are appreciated by treating them to a barbeque lunch at the ball field! A few lucky SAL members were participants in a friendly game of tug of war on the field in between innings. The winners went home with a collectible bobblehead and bragging rights! SAL would like to thank the River Cats for their generous donation and the River Cats players for taking home the win!

NORTH STATION GETS A SPECIAL VISITOR
A young boy, Hamilton, was having feelings of self-doubt and his mother reached out to SSO for assistance. SAL Deputies Walls and Briggs jumped at the opportunity to connect with young Hamilton. They showed him the ins and outs of the SAL Humvee, allowed him to talk on the microphone and answered all of his questions. Hamilton and his mother were grateful for the deputies response; however, it was the deputies who were grateful for Hamilton's visit!
