Job Description:
  • The Tech HR Manager (HRM) provides HR expertise and counsel to management and employees on a full range of HR disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, compensation, staffing, learning and development, and HR policies and practices.
  • This position has no direct reports but will be expected to work collaboratively with HR colleagues across all departments, taking direction from Senior People Partners and leveraging support from other HR colleagues and functions.
  • The Tech HRM will work with multiple business leaders and their People Partners in our Global MMC Technology organization, including Marsh Tech, Mercer Tech, Guy Carpenter Tech, and several key technical functions including our Cyber Security and Application Management Services (AMS) organizations.

Working under the direction of Senior People Partners and in partnership with business leaders, the Tech HRM is responsible for:
• Coordinating corporate, business-specific, global and regional HR initiatives and processes
• Providing guidance and support to business clients/managers in implementing HR policies and procedures
• Working with managers to establish a supportive work environment that benefits colleagues and the organization
• Recommending new approaches to policies and procedures to enable continual improvements in department efficiency
• Assisting with employee relations issues by providing counsel and advice to management and employees to achieve positive resolutions, including working in conjunction with People Partner and ER team to determine corrective action to be taken on performance or breach of policy issues, up to and including termination
• Overseeing day-to-day HR administration of new hires, transfers, terminations, data changes, etc by leveraging and partnering with the Data Team.
• Updating and maintaining Workday data to ensure accuracy
• Providing regular HR reporting for client groups.
The Tech HRM will collaborate with colleagues in our Centers of Expertise (COEs) and with People Partners working in the same business to implement initiatives across the full range of HR areas. You will help to proactively identify opportunities to drive consistency and deploy enterprise-wide solutions within the business, tailoring where necessary to meet local business needs.
Capabilities that are particularly critical to success in this role include:
• Ability to build relationships with and influence all levels of management within an organization
• Data management and reporting skills, particularly the use of Workday reporting and the manipulation of and reporting on raw data in Excel
• Proven oral and written communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced, complex, dynamic environment with multiple organizational cultures; comfortable with multi-tasking requirements.
• Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of HR administration
• Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
• Ability to influence others to effectively resolve issues by using judgment that is consistent with policies, practices, standards, procedures, regulations and/or law.
• A focus on results over process; the ability to deliver quality output on time, to specifications
