Beverly Bootstraps Rooftop Solar Installation Has Begun

The installation has begun on more than 100 solar PV panels on our rooftop. We are excited to soon be the host of a 45-kilowatt array. Built with no up-front investment from Beverly Bootstraps, the system will save on electricity costs for years to come.

The project got its launch last spring, shortly after the pandemic arrived thanks to Beverly community members and environmental advocates Jim Bauer and Lorinda Visnick. Bauer engaged Dorchester-based solar developer Resonant Energy, who partners with Rise Up Solar, to bring solar projects to non-profit organizations.

It is expected that the project will go live and start generating sun power in late Spring. We are thrilled to have this chance to be part of the clean energy revolution. Not only will this turn our empty roof space into a valuable asset, but by improving the environment, it is also another way for us to support our community in a really meaningful way.

Shaw's and The Greater Boston Food Bank Supports our Community

We are honored to announce a donation of grocery cards totaling $10,500 from Shaw’s. Individual $25 gift cards will help boost our Food Pantry client's food budgets over the next few months. This grant of gift cards was made possible by support from your local Shaw’s store and their Holiday Nourishing Neighbors program that took place from November 27– December 31.
In addition, The Greater Boston Food Bank supported our clients with 1000 $25 Shaw's gift cards. We are proud of our ongoing collaboration and joint mission of eliminating hunger.
Glen Urquhart Honors its Teachers

The Glen Urquhart School snowflake drive is a tradition that started in the late '80s. Teachers wanted to leverage the generosity of GUS parents at the holidays in order to help and serve those in greater need. As a group, teachers forgo holiday gifts and ask for donations to Beverly Bootstraps. This year, GUS donated over $7,000 to help those less fortunate in their community. We are honored by their donation.
Wayside Trailers Adds to our Fleet

We are thrilled to announce that Wayside Trailers generously donated a box truck to us. This permanent addition to our truck fleet will allow the Thrift Shop to do furniture pick-ups ourselves. Thank you, Wayside Trailers!
