Autism Awareness Month Week Two
Let's Give Them Something to Talk About

Ambassadors across the state are speaking at events, town council meetings, to friends and colleagues, and commenting on social media feeds. Many prominent moments that create change often come through speeches and discussions. Keep up the good work, Ambassadors, and keep the conversations going!
Proclamations
Ambassadors are connecting with their town councils to ensure they are keeping the needs of the autism community in mind. Proclamations declare April as Autism Awareness Month. We expect to receive more than a dozen this year!
Kids are Role Models
Students throughout the state are talking with their classmates about the importance of autism awareness and showing their support by wearing pins and Choose Kindness tattoos, and through artwork! Currently we have 414 NJ schools participating!
Social Media
Ambassadors are posting, sharing and emailing photos, and videos of their activities… keep em’ coming! Don’t forget to use the Choose Kindness frame and tag us @AutismNJAmbassador!
Meet Tim Rohrer
2019 Autism Ambassador of the Week 2
High school was not an easy time for Tim Rohrer. No matter how hard he tried to make connections and develop friendships, the other students couldn’t seem to be able to get past Tim’s differences. It didn’t matter if he tried to interact with a group of athletes or band members, Tim was often left in isolation. But instead of becoming angry or resentful, Tim asked himself how he could make things better for everyone involved.
The result is an education guide Tim wrote called “How to be a Good Influence to People with Disabilities,” which was published by the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) in November and continues to be shared frequently on social media and websites, including his own.
