START With Your Mayor or Town Council
We\'re looking to increase the number of proclamations from our town Mayors!
Autism awareness is important to us not only personally, but also in our local government offices. The more we tell our stories and inform our local officials about autism awareness, the more we ensure they keep the needs of the autism community in mind.
Last year, Victoria Veloz-Vicioso, from Englewood NJ, requested a proclamation and attended her town council meeting where her Mayor proclaimed April as Autism Awareness Month.
Proclamations: Declare April as Autism Awareness Month
Consider writing your mayor to ask him/her to proclaim April as Autism Awareness Month. You’ll need to reach out well in advance of your town’s April Council Meeting to ensure you can get the proclamation read at the meeting. Get tips and tools on our Ambassador Hub>>
