I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and great spirits. The pandemic of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has really affected our everyday life: from social gatherings to conducting remote business from home; to finding the motivation to forming new routines; to creating ways to entertain family at home. As city clerks, we are used to last minute changes and we step up to every challenge like a boss! During this pandemic, I have seen so many clerks reaching out to each other, helping with technology challenges, and encouraging one another. A huge applause to each and every one of you for your commitment to our profession, your compassion for the success of city clerks and for helping make this stressful situation manageable. Thank you for being a role model to the chapter and across the state.

As our cities slowly start to reopen for business, the impact from sales tax, utilities and other income has put a hardship on city budgets especially in travel and training. Please consider applying for the Alyce Deering Scholarship. The NTMCA mission is to promote educational and professional development opportunities. More information can be found below.

Please be on the outlook for a chapter email with the login and password information as well as registration, if you did not sign up in March. By meeting via Zoom, this will be a great opportunity for members who cannot make the meetings to be part of the chapter. Every year, the North Texas Chapter accepts scholarship applications from the membership. Do not let this opportunity slip by, complete the application and submit it to
[email protected]
. The upcoming fiscal year will be challenging, and your city manager and city council will appreciate you finding alternate funding sources for your required TMCCP seminars.
The deadline to submit applications is June 1, 2020.

NTMCA 2020 PROFESSIONAL SEMINAR
|
|
Navigating the Maze of E-Records & TABC Rules
The North Texas Municipal Clerks Association regrets to announce the cancellation of their 2020 professional seminar. Due to the uncertainty surrounding events and COVID-19, the general expectation is that many events will be rescheduled for later in the year, creating few opportunities for rescheduling our event. Furthermore, we understand that many Municipal Clerks will be working with limited time and budgets for the foreseeable future, meaning there could be attendance issues with attempting to reschedule the event. We look forward to resuming the professional seminars in 2021 and wish our members a safe remainder of 2020.
I would like to thank the NTMCA board members and the Professional Seminar committee members, Theresa Scott, Shelley Scazzero, and Lisandra Leal for all their hard work.
Submitted by Alicia Smith, Professional Seminar Committee Chair (Willow Park)
**The committee is considering a Zoom Athenian Dialogue. They are looking into the requirements and will send out an update soon.
