Spotlight on AmeriCorps Program Serving Union County, New Jersey

Abraham Clark High School, Roselle, NJ

Our AmeriCorps members serve as mentors, tutors, and guides for young people who are at risk of disengaging from education. Through structured support, they help students navigate academic challenges, build self-confidence, and prepare for their futures.

Since October 2024, we’ve been at Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, New Jersey, aiming to be a resource for students during and after school. The members also provide college readiness workshops to the high school students.

A special thank you to Community Church members for their generous gift donations to support our teen parents with diapers and clothes for newborns. Special thank you to Pinhos Bakery and other local businesses for providing food to support our students. Your contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students!

"Americorps has been a life changer. Being an Americorps member has given me the opportunity to be an advocate for underrepresented youth. I feel that I am making a difference in many lives as I navigate various social avenues for the youth I work with. I also have the opportunity to encourage youth to pursue higher education. This privilege is indescribable. Thank you to Americorps and Boxwood Learning Center for this opportunity to plant seeds." - Naomi Anacius, 2025
