America’s Newspapers, Google News Initiative launch North America Subscriptions Lab
Seven-month program will be an ambitious and intensive experience addressing every step of the digital subscriptions process
Eight America’s Newspapers members have been selected to participate in the 2022 Google News Initiative North America Subscriptions Lab. These newspapers include The Bulletin (Bend, Oregon), Denton Record-Chronicle, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, The Denver Gazette, Shaw Media, Dayton Daily News, The Sumter Item and Yakima Herald-Republic. Additionally, The Hill Times, Les coops de l'information, SaltWire Network and The Daily Memphian were selected to participate.

America's Newspapers welcomes new member
The Leelanau Enterprise (Lake Leelanau, Michigan) has become a member of America's Newspapers.

John Elchert is publisher of this weekly newspaper that covers Leelanau County, Michigan. In addition, the paper has a full-service commercial print shop.

The Times-Republican (Marshalltown, Iowa) has announced the hiring of Rhonda James as its new general manager and advertising director.

New president named for Roanoke, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Danville newspapers in Virginia
Lee Enterprises on Wednesday named a new president and director of sales for The Roanoke Times and newspapers in Lynchburg, Martinsville and Danville.

David Cuddihy will move into the role after most recently serving as regional market president for Lee Enterprises newspapers in Washington and Oregon.

The Associated Press announces additions to its Washington bureau
In a memo to staff, Washington Bureau Chief Anna Johnson announced the addition of three new reporters to AP’s Washington team.

Del Quentin Wilber named Washington investigations editor for The Associated Press
Del Quentin Wilber is currently a White House editor at the Los Angeles Times where he supervises a team of reporters, assigns stories and edits spot and enterprise news. He will join AP on Monday, Nov. 21.

Pulitzer-winning reporter Deborah Yetter, protector of Kentucky's children, retires
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Deborah Yetter, whose tenacious reporting on abuse, neglect and children's welfare spurred greater protections for Kentucky's most vulnerable residents, has retired from The Courier Journal in Louisville, Kentucky, after 38 years in the industry.

Times-Journal Inc. acquires six metro Atlanta newspapers from Southern Community Newspapers, Inc.
Times-Journal Inc., a publisher of several newspapers, news websites and magazines in Georgia, has purchased six metro Atlanta newspapers from Southern Community Newspapers, Inc.

The publications acquired by Times-Journal are the Gwinnett Daily Post, Rockdale Citizen, Newton Citizen, Henry Herald, Clayton News and the Jackson Progress-Argus.
