ADOPT A SENIOR MONTH!
A Senior Adoption Success Story
Shadow Belle
Submitted by Allene and Richard Roberts
Shadow Belle on trip home

Our delightful 10+ year old Shadow arrived to come to live with us on October 13th. "Shadow" Belle was an owner surrender. From what we understand, she came from a loving home but her owner could not care for her the way she wanted to and also had to move where they would not accept dogs. That's about all we know.

So after over a month now, Shadow Belle is doing so well and what a wonderful addition to our family. She obviously wasn't used to living with three other lively Brittanys so we all had a little bit of an adjustment period to get used to it. Now she fits right in really enjoying running around our fenced back four acres with her new brother and two sisters. She eats like a champ and meal time is a real experience with all four of them ready for their bowls. She's also perfectly house broken - has had no incidents. She seems to have a natural instinct to hunt and has actually been quail hunting twice. She hasn't quite figured out what that's all about but loves to run, has excellent stamina and seems to enjoy it so we'll probably continue to take her out occasionally as long as she's having some fun.

All of our dogs have had a southern name theme (our other rescue is Scarlett and we have Tara and Bobby Lee). We have added Belle to her name and she is now Shadow Belle.  If she had AKC papers she would be Brittany Pines' Shadow Belle.  She sleeps in a really comfortable bed in a lounge chair in our bedroom and doesn't make a sound all night long and boy does she ever love a lap!  If she's not gnawing a bone she's going to be in a lap, probably Allene's but she will snuggle with Richard or any lap that is available.

Happy Adopt a Senior Month!
DEAR BRITTANY
Questions and Answers from our ABR Community
Dear Brittany -
The skunk population has evidently experienced an explosion in our area. Curious Brittanys and skittish skunks often make for some exciting and frustrating late-night baths. What should be in our cupboard to resolve a skunk encounter in the most stress-free manner for dogs and humans?
Sincerely,
Holding my nose
