National Perspectives/Immigration Policy

An important strategy for achieving immigrant integration is to establish centers of leadership, coordination, resource management, and accountability within state government. The Portal's State Government Collection contains reports and studies pertaining to the operation of such centers. We also highlight research on other state policy initiatives to promote the integration of immigrants, such as the issuance of driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants, the broadening of in-state tuition opportunities, refinements in occupational licensing requirements, and stricter enforcement of labor rights for immigrants. The collection also includes studies of changing political dynamics and restrictionist activities within states.
