American Landscape's
" Rhode Island Land and Sea " Tour
Thursday, June 6th, 2019
Dear Tour Guest:

Our 2019 tour season has arrived. American Landscape begins 2019 with an all-new tour, "Rhode Island Land and Sea" on Thursday, June 6th. Other tours will be announced shortly.
Departing Sharon MA and Smithfield RI we will journey by luxury motor coach to Saunderstown RI, and back in time stopping at Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum. A picture-perfect New England setting situated on 23 acres beside a mill pond and stream surrounded by forest and gardens. Stuart was America's foremost portrait artist who produced over 1,000 portraits in his lifetime, including the first six US presidents. His works can be found in art museums throughout the United States and Great Britain. His most famous work is probably in your pocket as it is the unfinished portrait of George Washington, as it is on every dollar bill.
Stuart’s birthplace is unique because it was both a dwelling and a place of industry. This is the site of the first snuff (tobacco) mill in the colonies. The mill operated by his father was powered by water to grind locally grown tobacco in Colonial times. We will tour his birthplace, adjacent Grist Mill, as well as visit the Art gallery displaying many of his works and those of other noted artists. Also, we have arranged a special tour of the colonial herb garden.
Departing Saunderstown, we head to Historic Wickford Village. Enjoy a rolling narrated tour of this New England seaside treasure established in 1709. Wickford provides picturesque waterfront streets lined with one of a kind shops, antique stores, galleries, and cafes nestled among beautifully maintained colonial homes, churches and gardens.
Then it's off to Quonset Point North Kingston, say "Bonn Voyage" as you board the largest most luxurious sightseeing catamaran in New England. Enjoy lunch on this 90-minute narrated excursion as you view 10 Lighthouses, past the mansions of Newport, historic Fort Adams, 10 Islands and 60 miles of coastline. Experience Newport Harbor with its mega-yachts and sailboats. You will see breathtaking waterfront scenery, mansions and million-dollar homes throughout the cruise.
Back on land we return to Wickford where there will be time to explore on your own and visit the many unique shops. Walk the tree lined streets and take in the stunning architecture of times past. The village has the largest number of owners occupied colonial and federal period homes in the United States.
Then we will head for home, and back to 2019.
