Celebrating a century of service by awarding our youth
|
|
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Children & Youth committee has a goal of presenting 100 Youth Hero Awards and 100 Good Deed Awards. You can help the committee reach this goal by looking for candidates.
Be on the lookout for news stories and social media posts about youth who qualify for one of these awards:
- Youth Hero Award — Youth should demonstrate a physical act of valor.
- Good Deed Award — Youth should demonstrate a leadership role in community service, and a specific deed should be present.
There are a couple of ways you can help:
- Share on social media – The easiest way is to post the story in the national Children & Youth Facebook group. Use #ALAYouthHero and #ALAGoodDeed on your post.
- Submit the information – You can also compile the information and submit to your ALA department. Once verified, they will forward it to ALA National Headquarters.
