American Mural Project Announces Departure of Executive Director Amy Wynn
AMP Secures RMCreative Solutions, LLC to Assist in Transition Process
September 29, 2025/Winsted, CT…American Mural Project (AMP), the home of the world's largest indoor collaborative work of art, announced today that Executive Director Amy Wynn will be departing the organization at the end of October 2025 after seven years of service.
Wynn states, “It's time for me to shift into the next phase of my career, which will call upon my 40+ years of nonprofit experience to do project work. I’ve absolutely loved my time at AMP, especially the people I’ve had the privilege of working with and learning from. In this next phase, I'm looking forward to consulting for a variety of nonprofits with the aim of guiding strategic decision-making and actions for those clients.”
Founder and Artistic Director Ellen Griesedieck states, “through all these years, Amy has worked with tireless enthusiasm for AMP, running the day-to-day operations in the office and guiding the overall direction of our mission. She has worn many hats and guided the organization to where AMP is today. As the former head of the Northwest CT Arts Council, Amy brought tremendous skill to her job, applying her experience as a leader of a growing cultural organization. Everyone at AMP will miss Amy and wishes her well as she takes the next steps in her career.”
AMP has invited consultant Renee Chatelain of RMCreative Solutions, LLC to facilitate the transition process and work with the board and staff while an executive search is conducted. Chatelain, an attorney and former president and CEO of the Arts Council of Baton Rouge, previously led the American Mural Project during the recent capital expansion planning process which sought community input regarding AMP’s future campus expansion.
Griesedieck continues, “A longtime friend, Renee comes to us with a depth of knowledge on executive transition. As an attorney, a leader of several arts organizations, and a classically-trained dancer, Renee is particularly well-suited for this interim role in a dynamic arts organization. We all look forward to working with Renee in the months ahead.”
As she prepares to leave her role at AMP, Amy Wynn looks forward to the institution’s future. “My hopes and wishes for the organization are that it continues to evolve so that it can sustain itself now and into the future. AMP has an amazingly capable team to help make that happen. I hope that some of the work that I have been part of over my tenure will reinforce the ongoing evolution of the organization. And I plan on remaining a donor and supporter of AMP as it grows.”
