Give blood at American Red Cross blood drive on campus
Students, faculty, staff, and community members can give blood on campus during the American Red Cross blood drive on March 23, April 6, April 19, and May 11, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The mobile blood drive bus will be in Lot 4. Schedule an appointment online.

Nomination deadline for WellBeingU Champion extended
Nominations are being accepted for this year’s WellBeingU Champion awards until Friday, March 24. The awards celebrate students, faculty, and staff who demonstrate extraordinary and innovative dedication to the well-being of others at Cal State LA. The WellBeingU Champions will receive a certificate of appreciation and a gift of $500, and will be honored at an event this spring. Self-nominations require at least one letter of support from another student, faculty, or staff member. Two letters are recommended. Find more details about the application requirements, previous honorees, and how to submit an application on the WellBeingU Champions nomination webpage. Additional services now utilizing EagleQ
Faculty, staff, and students visiting One-Stop Financial Services and Golden Eagle One Card Office can now utilize EagleQ, a virtual queuing system for in-person services. They can join a virtual line before heading to the Student Services Building or sign up on the first floor when they arrive. Individuals who provide their mobile numbers will receive a text when it’s their turn, or they can check the EagleQ monitors to see their place in the queue.

COVID-19 booster clinic planned for April 6
Cal State LA and AltaMed are hosting a free COVID-19 booster clinic on campus on Thursday, April 6. The pop-up clinic will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the Main Campus Walkway across from the Student Health Center. If it rains, the clinic will be moved to outside University Library North. First, second, and updated booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be available. The clinic will offer Pfizer single doses and bivalent boosters for ages 12 and older and Moderna bivalent boosters for ages 6 and older. Appointments are recommended, but not required. Celebration recognizing the efforts in faculty-led curriculur design for student achievement
Faculty members are welcome to attend a Cal State LA Faculty Recognition and Poster Session on Wednesday, April 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Golden Eagle Ballrooms. The event will celebrate the outstanding work of the 30 faculty members who participated in the Faculty-Led Curricular Design for Student Achievement in the CSU initiative. There will also be a poster session showcasing the work of the 15 departments involved in this FLC. The initiative, geared at redesigning curricula to enhance student success, is supported by the Teagle Foundation, the College Futures Foundation, and the CSU Chancellor’s Office. Donate to the Hygiene Kits and Food Collection Drive
Support families in our community by donating to the Hygiene Kits and Food Collection Drive, a collaboration between Cal State LA and Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, a nonprofit organization. Donations of hygiene kits and non-perishable food items are being accepted. Drop off donations by Thursday, April 20, at the Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good, located on the lower level of the Career Center building. Luckman concert features American rock icon Melissa Etheridge
American rock icon Melissa Etheridge, who is a multi-Grammy award winner, will perform on Saturday, April 22, at 8 p.m. in the Luckman Theatre. Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades. Join the Cal State LA Gives Back! day of service on April 28
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to volunteer and participate in a day of community service at a food pantry run by APLA Health in North Hollywood. The food pantry is for individuals in Los Angeles County who are living with HIV/AIDS. The Cal State LA Gives Back! event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 28. Transportation will be provided. This service project is organized by the Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good. Space is limited, so sign up online before April 14. In memoriam
Henry Fuhrmann, who was formerly a senior writer for the Office of Communications and Public Affairs, passed away on Sept. 14, 2022. A Cal State LA alumnus, Fuhrmann was also a pioneering journalist and longtime copy editor for the Los Angeles Times. A celebration of life was held on Feb. 19, 2023, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles Downtown in Little Tokyo.
William “Bill” Taylor, who was an emeritus professor of physics in the College of Natural and Social Sciences, passed away on Feb. 28, 2023. A Cal State LA faculty for more than three decades, Taylor had previously served as chair of the Academic Senate and received a Cal State LA Outstanding Professor Award. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lone Wolf Brewing Co., located at 18210 Yorba Linda Blvd. in Yorba Linda.
