Today's Program:  American Red Cross, Florida's Southern Gulf Chapter

Our presenter today was Jill Palmer, Executive Director from the local chapter . Did you that the Red Cross was formed 137 years ago, on a battlefield by Clara Barton? "Down the street. Across the country. Around the World." Jill discussed their fundamental principles and told us about the Red Cross "app" that can be downloaded for free. The 5 primary lines of service under the Red Cross are; Disaster Cycle Services, Blood Services, Training Services, International Services and Service to Armed Forces. Three programs that we can get involved with are; Sound the Alarm (installing smoke detectors), Pillow Case Project (with young children), and Stockings for the Troops (collecting items, making stockings). For more informaiton visit www.redcross.org/southflorida or call 239-785-3664.

                             Florida's First Lady Project--Diaper Drive

We are collecting diapers during the months of March and April.

For March we donated 3,000  to St. Vincent De Paul. They went to families in Page Park and Pine Manor. For April we are donating them to Children's Advocacy Center. They especially need sizes 4-6. Bring them in to Todd or Kim. 1,000 has been dropped off so far.

At the end of April we'll send our total diaper count to the Florida office.

You can also bring in items associated with diapers such as wipes. If you don't want to shop a club member will be happy to do that.
