Welcome to the December issue of the Amplify WomenTM Newsletter.
It is amazing what we can accomplish when we lift each other up. There may not be a SIC code for captive insurance jobs, but anecdotally we are making a difference with Amplify Women. It is exciting to be part of a group of women and men that are genuinely rooting for and supporting each other’s success.
I started my career in public accounting and cut my teeth in captive insurance at a time when there were very few females involved in the industry. I clearly remember some of the early days in tax consulting work, visiting clients, and working with many men and thinking it would be nice to have more women around the table. Many times, I was the only woman at the table. I thought to myself, it would be nice to have mentors and colleagues who are females and have similar career aspirations as I did.
As I reflect on my thirty-year career, there certainly have been challenging times when I could have used a mentor and colleagues advocating and cheering for me. But what became crystal clear a few years ago was the importance of ensuring the next generation of leaders have people to support and mentor them. I wanted to advocate and speak out about supporting each other as women in the captive insurance industry. The idea of being supportive, providing mentorship, networking opportunities and being a phone call away for other women was essential for our industry to grow and change.
Amplify Women was created to foster education, influence, and networking among women in the captive insurance industry. I want other women to have an easier path than what I experienced. It is important to give back and create positive opportunities for other women in the industry. We needed change and Amplify Women supports change while providing a forum for us to provide feedback, educate and network with incredibly talented women in the industry. I am thankful to be a part of this wonderful group of men and women supporting our industry and look forward to seeing you a the CICA conference in March 2023.
Amplify Women creates a safe and supportive environment for women to develop and grow.
If you want to be part of something special, get involved today with Amplify Women!
