In the midst of all of this, we have some important news to share with you.
For better or for worse, the Tarver-Wahlquist family's circumstances have changed and we will be leaving California and The Arc San Francisco sometime in the middle of June.
The Board of Directors has decided to name my colleague, Kristen Pedersen, Senior Director, Business Development & Workforce Inclusion, as the Interim Executive Director, starting on June 1, 2020, until such time as external circumstances stabilize and a formal search process can be conducted later in 2020. The process of transitioning leadership commenced on April 15, 2020.
The Executive Team stands 100% behind this choice, believing that Kristen has the perfect blend of vision, skills and values to lead that team and this organization through this challenging time.
The COVID-19 crisis is not a factor in this departure; if anything, it has delayed it. The reality is that the difficult decision has been made to give the small Tarver-Wahlquist children the opportunity to grow up around their extended family in Tucson, Arizona.
Working with the participants and staff at The Arc SF has been a great privilege. So much has been accomplished together and there is no doubt that the great progress that has been made at the organization will continue.
You will be hearing from Kristen and me again as we get closer to the transition date, but in the meantime she joins me in thanking you all for your support, and wishing you well today and in the future. We have great confidence that the staff and participants of The Arc SF will continue to thrive, as they pursue lifelong learning, personal achievement and independence.
