An Audience of One
Solomon, considered the wisest man to have ever lived, summarized the entirety of life, “All is VANITY but ONENESS with God!” (Ecclesiastes 12)
Isn’t our ONLY business in this life to please God? Jesus stated it this way, “How can you believe which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?” John 5:44 “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10
As I review my 71 years of life, there seems to be a central thread woven throughout the fabric of life, which is the peer pressure to prove oneself and to get others to affirm and validate our worth. But in doing so, we forget that we were created not to live for an audience, but for an audience of One, the One who created, forgave, redeemed and empowers us to live intentionally for Him!
So ask yourself daily, What does God want for my life???
What does He want me to do, as opposed to everybody else’s expectations??
Now, prioritize the pursuit of seeking the approval of God and God alone and resist the temptation to conform and submit to the status quo as well as the epidemic of looking for people’s applause and approval.
If you intentionally live this, you will find true freedom, happiness and joy!
The attached picture is where I often go to renew my commitment to live for an Audience of One!
