How's this for good news? Even in this time of uncertainty, we are optimistic about our future and are continuing with plans to offer three summer-long baseball camps for kids in at-risk communities. We place a high value on these camps which prioritize nourishing the minds and bodies of campers above athletic skills.
Clearly, our communities value these camps as well. Camp sizes have increased year over year. In 2020, the JP4 Foundation plans on impacting 120 kids throughout East Saint Paul, North Minneapolis, and South Minneapolis this summer, in partnership with the Police Activities League of Minneapolis and the Sanneh Foundation.
Our Board of Directors is meeting regularly and working on contingency plans to address the needs of these communities throughout the summer months. Our goal is to ensure kids in these communities have access to healthy activity that includes healthy meals and the ability to build healthy relationships with peers and adults.
"We are actively working to identify alternative approaches given the uncertainty of our times. We're confident we will find a way to engage with kids in these communities to offer healthy food, healthy activity, and opportunities to build healthy relationships;" said Jeff Huth, JP4 Foundation Executive Director. "We'll do what it takes to get creative and make sure we have a presence in these communities."
