“I may not live to see our glory / But I will gladly join the fight / And when our children tell our story / They'll tell the story of tonight”
- Hamilton
Saturday was the Fourth of July, and even though I was sad that I didn't get to watch fireworks, I finally got to watch Hamilton! I loved all of the songs, and it also made me think about all the changes happening in our country right now. That made me a little sad, but it also filled me with hope and reminded me of one of my favorite songs:
Yesterday, pastor Kathleen talked about some of the ways that we can go out and make God's kingdom right here! Our middle school youth were supposed to leave this week for Reach Beyond Mission, serving and learning about cultures and poverty in Albuquerque. I know they’re disappointed, but maybe they can find some ways to make a difference right here at home.
The pandemic makes it hard to do some forms of service, but we can still do others...like voting! Voting is one of the most important ways to help build the community you want to live in! So make sure to get out this week to vote early, and let me know how it goes! Here's a list of everything on the ballot right now!
This week I would love to see pictures, songs, or drawings about ways we can help build God’s kingdom, reflections on this week’s parable, or even a picture of how you observed the Fourth of July differently this year! Email me ( barnabas@fumcaustin.org ) or post on social media (#FUMCBarnabas) how you engage.

Be encouraged.
