Dylan Wykes and Rob Watson
to Represent
Forerunners Through 2016

Vancouver, BC - Forerunners President and Founder, Peter Butler announced today that Forerunners has signed marathoners Dylan Wykes and Rob Watson to ambassadorship deals.  For the next three years, both athletes will work together with Forerunners in community outreach, store promotion, and social media communication.

Wykes, a member of Canada's Olympic team in 2012 hails from Kingston, ON but has made Vancouver his effective home base  for the last 3.5 years. He is currently the 2nd fastest marathoner in Canadian history with his 2:10:47 clocking at the 2012 Rotterdam marathon. In his first Olympic appearance, Wykes finished 20th overall in London. His ambition is to represent Canada at the Olympics in Rio 2016.

"I'm very excited and extremely thankful for the opportunity to work with Peter and the Forerunners team. I look forward to being an ambassador for Forerunners and to continue to make valuable and lasting connections with the great running community here in Vancouver. This partnership will allow me to share my Olympic journey with that community and hopefully encourage other runners to achieve their goals!"

Watson, a member of Canada's team at the World Track and Field Championships last summer in Moscow, was born and raised in London, ON. He made the permanent westward move to Vancouver in July of 2012. Rob finished a strong 11th place at the 2013 Boston Marathon, and was the 2013 Canadian Marathon Champion. He holds a PB of 2:13:29 in the distance. Watson expects to continue to progress and improve under the direction of coach, Richard Lee. His ultimate goal is to represent Canada in the 2016 Olympic Marathon in Brazil.

Rob is very excited to be partnering up with Forerunners; "I am so thankful to Peter, Karen and Todd for all they have done for me thus far. This new sponsorship will help so much as I continue to pursue my goals towards 2016...It is awesome to have Forerunners supporting local athletes, and for them to be a leader in helping to foster the growth of the Vancouver elite scene."

Watson also looks forward to his role as a Forerunners ambassador; "I've always looked at Forerunners as one of the primary hotbeds within our running community, and I am super pumped to have this chance to become more involved with the scene, be it at races, our clinics or just getting out there and meeting other runners. I believe Vancouver is the best running city in this country, and I'm stoked to be a part of it!"

"We're really pleased to work with these two gives us an opportunity to give back to the sport while supporting two Olympic hopefuls for Rio 2016" says Butler,  "It's a chance to have a greater reach in our local community and the running community".

Both athletes live and train locally in Vancouver with the newly formed BC Endurance Project under head coach, Richard Lee.  Follow their progress at and
