COVID-19 required Jericho's leaders to grapple with how to minister to at-risk students in our altered reality. How would we endure if we couldn't see our kids daily?

But then God moved with a revelation: WE CAN DO THIS BETTER!

Though we've been providing glimpses of this for a few weeks, today, we officially unveil a new ministry model, one we believe will provide a launch pad to life-long success for our students.

Jericho 360 is a relationship-based, 360-degree, "whole person" word & deed approach to ministry. With innovative virtual and in-person programs, workshops, and services, we'll now address our students' individual academic, physical, life readiness, and spiritual needs... all while ensuring, through case management, that their social & emotional needs are also met.

We're in a new world of learning. Now is the time to introduce new ways for our students to engage with the world around them. Read on to learn a little more about our model.

With every blessing,
Carrie L. Amos, President
ACADEMIC SUPPORT
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING, TUTORING

Our most exciting new innovation to serve students comes in the form of project-based learning. Through immersion in an engaging project - such as our pilot project, a virtual workshop on drone technology - students are learning math, science, problem-solving, reading comprehension and more. Jericho is partnering with creative thinkers from around the country for this program, who are serving as leaders and coaches with our students.

Tutors, Reading Buddies, Summer Learning: Our core academic programs for students remain in place; all are now hybrid. We remain committed to closing the achievement gap, ensuring all students we serve graduate from high school and are well-prepared for life.

Remote Learning Support: For as long as Danbury public schools are on any sort of virtual model, we'll support our students' and their working parents by providing a place for students to spend their school day, with help from volunteers, while parents are at work.
PHYSICAL SUPPORT
PEDIATRIC CLINIC & FOOD PANTRY

Even with fears of COVID-19 preventing families from seeing doctors, our Samaritan Health Center provided care to hundreds of children this year, and will continue to serve the city's most vulnerable kids. They'll also take a lead role in presenting student workshops that promote health and wellness.

With the number of food-insecure families on the rise since the pandemic began, our Food Pantry has served more than 100 families weekly, more than triple of number of families than before. We're committed to feeding those in need for as long as necessary.
LIFE READINESS
WORD & DEED WORKSHOPS

Students will achieve life-long success only if they're well-equipped. Jericho is now offering life-readiness workshops, ranging from job-seeking skills to financial literacy to leadership development. They'll learn how to manage money, how to cook nutritious meals on a budget, how to use (and not use) social media, and how to lead others.

For students who dream of being entrepreneurs, we now offer workshops created to help them. One is Samaritan Coffee Roasters, a workshop that will give hands-on experience in running a coffee business, teaching skills useful in many settings. Workshops in financial literacy, business skill-building, and communication skills will also support students in their future entrepreneurial goals.
SPIRITUAL/DISCIPLESHIP
MENTORING, BIBLE STUDY

The cornerstone of Jericho's ministry to at-risk youth remains bridging the gap between them and Christ. Our faith-based Pathways Danbury and Naomi mentoring programs will continue to provide opportunities for mature men and women to come alongside boys and girls to help them navigate a life centered on faith.

While all of our students are exposed to a life of faith, the students in our mentoring and tutoring programs should expect to go deeper in their spiritual life. We integrate Biblical principals in the 1:1 mentoring process, include Bible studies. Our students learn and understand the "Big Ten" bible verses before they graduate. They also attend Bible study on site, as well as with local church partners.
