An Exciting August
Hello Theatre & Music Lovers,

It is hard to believe that August is over half way finished! Where did the summer go? We have been so busy at Theatre Collingwood this summer, and the end of August is no exception! I’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank our Season Sponsors, Blue Mountain Resort and Chartwell Georgian Traditions, for their generous sponsorships!
Our Junior Drama Camp ran last week and did they ever have a ball! Councillors Drew, Rochelle and Luke did a fantastic job and loved the group of kids we had in! Ten fantastic campers were in attendance. This week we have the last week for the summer of Senior Drama Camp running at the Simcoe Street Theatre. Thank you to Tyler Cleary from The Town of Collingwood for all his help with the space. I want to also thank all who donated camp tuitions this year! One of the things we are most proud of is that we never let financial concerns stop a child who would benefit from coming to camp. We can do this because of our Camp Tuition Donation Program. If you would like to help send a kid to camp please contact the office.
Our stage arrived yesterday at the Georgian Bay Hotel & Conference Centre and our cast and crew are getting ready to welcome you! We hope you are able to join us for Norm Foster’s newest show, BESIDE MYSELF. I had the pleasure of seeing this at the Foster Festival in St. Catharines and I know you are going to enjoy this musical that is just packed with talent! BESIDE MYSELF is about a couple who get an opportunity to look back in time and consider how they would have changed some things in their past. It is classic Norm Foster and really entertaining. BESIDE MYSELF runs from August 20 th to 24 th each evening at 8pm. The matinee is SOLD OUT. We are also offering dinner packages for this show which include your ticket and a three course meal at Gustavs for $70. Please call the office if you are interested. Some of the nights are sold out but there is still some available. Thank you to our Production Sponsor, COLLINGWOOD TIM HORTONS!
This month will be over before we know it, but before it ends don’t miss out on seeing one of our Canadian music icons perform at The Marsh Street Centre on Friday, August 30 th Sean McCann , founding member of Great Big Sea, will be performing for us in this wonderful and intimate setting. Only 160 seats! We are thrilled to have Sean back to Theatre Collingwood. He puts on a fantastic show with his stories and amazing music talent. THIS IS THE PERFECT WAY TO START YOUR LONG WEEKEND, so grab your friends and come join us!
Richard Lemoine, C.A. C.P.A. Board Chair

Richard joined the board of directors of Theatre Collingwood in August of 2014, and became Board Chair in 2018. He was first attracted to Collingwood for the skiing (1996) and after having rented for a few years he then bought a condo in Cranberry Village.  Richard and his wife, Debra Friendly, decided in 2004 to start building their future home and moved full time to the area in 2010.
Richard is semi-retired from the accounting firm he founded in 1990. He likes to say that he has kept the clients that are fun to deal with! Prior to forming his own firm he worked for one of the big four accounting firms and had a stint owning part of an advertising agency prior to returning to the accounting profession in 1990.

Richard has served on numerous boards and most recently retired as president and chair of the board of Cross Country Ski de Fond Canada. He remains active in the ski world as the treasurer of Cross Country Ontario, board member of the Highlands Trailblazers (operating out of Highlands Nordic in Duntroon) and is an active race organizer and international level technical delegate. His previous board experience includes Commodore of the Etobicoke Yacht Club, treasurer and executive board member of Taffelmusik (Canada’s premier baroque orchestra), Vice Chair of Junior Achievement (Peel Region) and the YMCA (Mississauga).

He is a long term audience member of live theatre and says he doesn’t have an acting bone in his body! Richard can be found not only enjoying Theatre Collingwood, but also at the Shaw Festival, various theatre in Toronto, and if while on vacation there is a theatre near he and his wife Debra will definitely take in a show or two!

Thank you, Richard, for your dedication to Theatre Collingwood! And thank you to all of you for your continued support of Theatre Collingwood.
See you at the show!

Erica
