Every year we are blessed to meet and share Christ with teens who are incarcerated in area detention centers. While many of them do accept Christ while in detention, we don't often know what happens to them when they leave. That's why the following story from a former incarcerated teen is so encouraging.
"From the ages of 12-18 I was sentenced to the Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center on several occasions. Those were some dark times for me. Fortunately, I was able to attend the large group meetings and they were amazing. But meeting one on one with Chaplain Steve was the game changer for me. Here was someone who cared, listened and most importantly spoke the truth of Jesus into my life. The volunteers and Chaplain Steve showed me the truth of the gospel and planted those seeds when I needed them most! Also, Chaplain Steve and I have continued our relationship to this day. I am now 25, a father, and living a Jesus-centered life. The relationships I experienced through COYFC have been so valuable to my life. I am thankful to all who make these life stories possible not only for me, but for all youth who have been placed on probation with the juvenile court."
