Dear Visual Communications Friends & Supporters
After six wonderful years as Executive Director for Visual Communications, I will be leaving my role here at the end of this year to begin the next chapter of my life. I feel so blessed to have been a part of VC during this period of immense change and growth. I want to thank the VC board for their unwavering support, and I will be forever thankful to those who've guided me, challenged me and forever changed the way I define leadership.
This is an incredibly exciting time for VC. I have no doubt that the organization will attract a new Executive Director who will continue to head this important work into the next stage of it's development, and I have unreserved faith that the VC staff is fully capable and prepared to take on this transitionary period. The VC board will be conducting a nation-wide search for the new Executive Director over the next six-months, and I look forward to working with them on the transition. The link to the job posting can be found here.
During the last six year, I've had the enormous privilege of having developed programs that will hopefully continue to elevate the work of Asian American media makers. Through the creation of our first ever media conference, the C3:Conference for Creative Content, and our annual Project Catalyst, we've continued to inspire a new generation of creative individuals and filmmakers. I'm incredibly proud of our Media Production Fund that will support our two feature film projects going into production this summer, with another one in development. And I'm honored to have started the work and initial fundraising for our documentary, VISIONS IN MOTION, which will help to celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of Visual Communications.
I am so proud of all our accomplishments over the past few years, our terrific programs and partnerships, the strength and vision of our staff and board. I am constantly amazed at the unending dedication of the people in our community who have given their time and energy to our collective work, and I will miss working with the large collective family of artists, filmmakers, and community-members, who have been a never-ending source of strength and inspiration for me. I want to thank you all for your friendship and support, and I look forward to continued collaborations.
With gratitude,
Shinae
