Dearest Community,
CASA of Galveston County is expanding our guardian ad litem service to include Brazoria, Matagorda, and Wharton Counties. Gulf Coast CASA, which previously served those counties, has experienced challenges in the current economic landscape like many nonprofits across the country. As a result, they did not have the resources or enough volunteers to serve all of the children who needed an advocate. Their Board of Directors made a difficult decision to close operations and transition advocacy services to CASA of Galveston County to ensure children in their community continue to have a CASA Volunteer to bring their voice to the court and community.
This transition is of utmost importance to CASA of Galveston County. We want to ensure that children experiencing foster care across our region have the best interest voice they are so deserving of. Our board and staff are committed to providing the elevated advocacy our program is recognized for and ensuring uninterrupted advocacy for the children of Brazoria, Matagorda, and Wharton Counties throughout this transition.
We want our community to know that the partnership you have with our advocacy program remains strong to benefit children who need CASA advocacy the most. Your gifts and support have brought us to this place to be able to widen our reach of service.
Our mission stays the same, our wingspan of service is wider, and we will continue to need our community and beyond to support our critical mission. Our main office will remain in Galveston County and we will be securing office space in our new counties.
As you can imagine our CASA program advocacy service is transforming into a more regional program versus a one county program. We are exploring a more regional name to represent all the communities we will be serving. Please stay tuned for more to come on that.
