Hello Roycemore Community,

Roycemore’s Board of Trustees and its Administration have been actively and strategically working together in our responses to COVID-19. The Board’s Health & Safety Task Force has developed a  Re-Entry Plan   created with the guidance of medical experts to address and promote the safety, health and welfare of our entire school community. The plan outlines our response along three main categories:

  • Protecting individuals in our community;
  • Addressing Appropriate Social Distancing;
  • and our Ongoing Commitment to the continued Disinfection of our Campus facilities.

The plan was developed utilizing guidelines issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Evanston Department of Health. In addition, Roycemore has received expert guidance from professional organizations such as the National Association of Independent Schools and our friends from leading independent schools around the country.

The goal of this plan is to guide a safe reopening of campus. This plan reflects our current knowledge and will continue to be updated as new information is made available. In addition, before the end of the month, we will publish a detailed re-entry plan by division that will offer further insight into what the school day will look like for students whether they are participating in instruction on campus or remotely.

Roycemore School will follow all CDC and IDPH guidelines for opening in-person, on-campus for the 2020-2021 school year. According to the latest guidelines published on May 15, 2020, the Health & Safety Task Force, Board of Trustees, and Administration have determined that the school is prepared to open safely while we continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given the likelihood that a vaccine will not be available for some time, however, we recognize that some families may want or need an option for their children to participate in school remotely. While we value the opportunities that result from in-person instruction, we understand that some families may prefer for their children to participate remotely. With this in mind, we are offering Flexible Options for Families:

Option 1: 100% on-campus learning
Option 2: Blended learning option
Option 3: 100% Remote instruction & learning

Families that have enrolled for the fall will be contacted in late June/ July with more information and will be given the opportunity to select their options. Also, in line with our commitment to meet the needs of individual students, we are pleased to offer new personal learning plans for each student. These learning plans will include transition plans for their child’s next grade, a plan for assessments to address any gaps that might have occurred during remote learning, and plans for each child to achieve their highest potential in the year ahead.

We recognize how important communication is during these uncertain times so Roycemore will send out communications twice per month to keep you informed, whether related to health and safety updates or re-opening plans.

As we continue our work together to navigate this pandemic, we thank you for your partnership in support of your children. We appreciate the trust you have shown Roycemore in the education of your children.

You have our continued commitment to strive to serve you and your children in extraordinary ways in the year ahead.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
