Hello Illinois,
We need your help to demonstrate support for the Healthcare Cultural Competency Bill. Please submit a witness slip as a proponent of HB 2280 – by 10 a.m. Wednesday when the bill will be considered by the Illinois House Health Care Licenses Committee. Click HERE, with instructions below.
Supported by a broad coalition of healthcare and civil rights organizations, the Healthcare Cultural Competency Bill (HB 2280) would establish cultural competency as a required part of existing continuing medical education for healthcare professionals in Illinois. Healthcare providers would thus stay abreast of the needs of an evolving patient base and support better patient outcomes, particularly for those communities who have been most marginalized in healthcare settings. We appreciate the leadership of our legislative champions, State Rep. Dagmara Avelar and State Sen. Ram Villivalam.
The opponents of the legislation, including the State Medical Society, which have powerful voices in Springfield. But we have you! Let’s show the committee that Illinois supports HB 2280 – the Healthcare Cultural Competency Bill! Take action and submit a witness slip of support by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
