Dear TBC Family,
Pikuach Nefesh (the preservation of human life) is one of the most basic principles of Jewish law. Given the recent rise in COVID cases, we are obliged to do all we can to keep everyone in our community safe and healthy.
To that end, our Reopening Task Force has made the following recommendations regarding COVID health and safety protocols, to which our senior leadership and clergy have agreed:
- Effective immediately TBC's building will be closed for all in person events, including services, meetings and religious school until January 29. During this period, we will continue to evaluate COVID infection rates and make any necessary adjustments. All events will take place remotely via Zoom.
- Parents with children in the Religious School will receive additional information about login logistics and timing. We will also make arrangements for parents to be able to pick up any items their children may need for online learning.
- Once we are back in person, we will require proof of full vaccination* for anyone entering the building.

Proof of vaccination in the form of a photo or scanned copy of your vaccination card should be sent to Denise in the Temple office at officeadmin@templebnaichaim.org ASAP.
*Full vaccination is defined as follows:
- Age 18 and older, two Pfizer/Moderna vaccines plus booster six months after second vaccine; or one J&J vaccine plus booster 2 months after J&J vaccine
- Age 12 to 17, two vaccines
- Age 5 to 11, at least one vaccine
- The only exception is if an individual is medically unable to get vaccinated. In that case, a doctor’s note will be required.
Many synagogues in our area have adopted similar protocols. Like us, their primary objective is to ensure the health and safety of our communities.
This is certainly not how we had hoped to begin 2022, but our first priority is to safeguard the well-being of our community. Unfortunately, this means we will have to postpone our New Member Shabbat, which was planned for Friday, January 7. A new date will be announced soon.
Be assured we will continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate changes to this policy as they occur.
