An Important Message from CAAA President Joseph Capurro
Dear members,

We are living in extraordinary times. The global public health crisis with the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to rapidly evolve and we know this is having a profound effect on you, your families and your clients.

The closure of the WCAB locations in the Bay Area and the reduced hearing calendar along with cancellation of doctor appointments and QME evaluations is having a serious impact on your practices and your clients’ physical, mental and financial well-being. We have been in contact with the DWC to urge them to address some of the problems arising through immediate emergency regulations and modified practices for submission of settlement documents.

Our leadership team and staff are closely monitoring the situation and working to bring you updates as soon as we can. We have cancelled or postponed all chapter meetings through the month of April and have cancelled the Hawaii Settlement Seminar that was scheduled for April 27-29.

Many of us are under directives to shelter-in-place, including myself in the Bay Area and our staff in Sacramento. We want to assure you that while the office is closed, staff are still available and working to answer questions and provide services.

We’ve set up the main office phone number (916-444-5155) to forward calls to our office manager, Dannika Bynum. If you have a concern or need to reach a specific staff member, it’s best to contact them via their individual email addresses which can be found on our website .

Our committees continue to meet through their regularly scheduled conference calls so that we are positioned to continue the important work of the association during this ongoing crisis.

We are also developing a webinar on managing law practices remotely to help you navigate your everyday business during this situation and will send a notice as soon as we have it scheduled. In the meantime, you can reach out to your fellow members via LawNet and the listservs. If you have questions or need help getting subscribed, contact our Membership Director Andrea Robertson at .

We encourage you all to take the necessary steps to protect your health and the health of those around you. Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and California Department of Public Health websites for the latest guidance and health information. You can also find updates from CAAA and links to helpful resources by visiting and by following us on social media.

We will continue to provide relevant updates as they occur. Thank you for your steadfast support and for continuing to be a valuable member of the CAAA community.
