Dear DSA Friends and Families,

It is with great sadness that the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte Board of Directors announces the resignation of our Executive Director, Holly Zipperer. Holly has accepted a position with another local organization affiliated with the special needs community.

Over the past three years Holly has been instrumental in growing the organization, strengthening relationships with our community, and expanding our programs. We will miss her commitment, passion, and dedication.

On a positive note, Holly has expressed her desire to continue to serve as the Chair of the Buddy Walk committee this year and remain involved with our community. Please join us in wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.

The Board has begun the process of hiring a new Executive Director. We plan to move as quickly as possible to find a great fit for this position. The job posting will be available in the next few days and we welcome any recommendations.

In the event you have questions or need support, please email executivedirector@dsa-gc.org or contact any member of the board.

With kind regards,

The Board of Directors of the DSA-GC
Dear Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte family and friends!

When I joined the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte in June 2018, I KNEW this community was something special and it continues to be. Having recently relocated to Charlotte with my family that year, I didn’t know anyone or have any real connections personally and professionally. That changed when I joined the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte.

In this organization I found colleagues, community partners, families, and FRIENDS. For the past 3 years I have been honored to lead this organization and cultivate amazing, authentic relationships with its members and the Greater Charlotte community. I have learned immeasurable lessons in acceptance, kindness and inclusion. From my first summer experiencing Camp Holiday and Camp Horizon to planning and being part of the biggest celebration of the year, the Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk, I have been embraced, appreciated, and empowered.

It is with mixed emotions that I share that I am moving on from the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte. After careful consideration, I have chosen to accept another position that allows me to work remotely and focus on the needs of my family, something I hope you appreciate and understand. Please know that this decision was not an easy one to make. My last day in the office is Friday, August 20th. Rest assured, I will always be connected to this amazing community. In fact, I am volunteering as the chairperson of the Buddy Walk Committee for 2021 and can’t wait to celebrate with you in October!

This community occupies a large part of my heart and always will. My family and I will be forever blessed because of you all. Thank you for trusting me to lead the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte. It has been an absolute honor.

With much love and appreciation,

Holly Zipperer
