March 12, 2020

Dear Oakcrest Parents,

I am writing to let you know that because of the changing landscape of the situation we will not be able to hold the second day of Parent-Teacher-Mentor conferences tomorrow. Despite our best efforts to continue forward with serenity and calm, but also responsibility, we see this is the prudent path forward.

We will use tomorrow and Monday for the faculty to plan their lessons so they can deliver them well through OakcrestConnect. From Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20, classes are cancelled. Teachers will provide for continued learning during this period of time through OakcrestConnect. Elizabeth Black will follow up with detailed instructions.

We will be in touch with you about the plans for school after Friday, March 20 as soon as we have a more clear sense of things. We are prepared for a longer period away from school, should that be necessary.

We will not hold our Father-Daughter Dance tomorrow night nor the Humanities Lecture on Saturday evening. We will be reaching out to you at a later date about rescheduling these events.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly if you have questions or comments.
Best regards,
Mary T. Ortiz, Ph.D.
Head of School
