And for you we give thanks….

As we approach Thanksgiving, I am filled with gratitude for the Vanir family. Thank you for your performance and dedication to our clients and the communities in which we work and serve.

Thanksgiving has been celebrated in the United States since 1789 as a time to reflect on the blessings of the past year with family and friends. Thanksgiving falls at the end of the month, giving us time to reflect on the priorities of life as we journey toward the December holiday season and the new year. I wish you and your families all the best as you celebrate the upcoming holidays.

The month of November also recognizes veterans who have served our country in the armed forces. As a company, we pay tribute to all the men and women who have served in our armed forces to protect us here at home and throughout the world. I am reminded of my father H. Frank Dominguez, a United States Army veteran who was stationed in Nürburg, Germany where he met my mother, Gisela. I am grateful for him and for each of our Vanir veterans for all that you have done to protect this country at home and abroad. We salute you this month and always.

We also celebrate the several successes of our company in the past month. Thank you and congratulations to the many Vanir teams that have won new contracts, including the City of Corcoran, Gateway Park Project (project and construction management - Fresno), two SoCalGas facilities projects (facility condition/ADA assessments and energy audits - Fresno and Southern California), Goose Creek CISD, Stallworth Stadium (condition assessment - Central States), two Port of Seattle projects (program, project and construction management - Pacific Northwest) and multiple San Juan Unified School District projects (project and construction management - Sacramento). These are just a few of the many important project wins from October. Each win represents significant work from our project and marketing teams to bid and interview for these projects. Congratulations to all teams throughout the company for their hard work and successful project wins. Go Team Vanir!

I was honored to participate in the recognition of last week’s dedication ceremony for CARB's (California Air Resources Board) new Southern California Headquarters. This is a state-of-the-art testing facility that was designed to be one of the greenest buildings in the country, and I am extremely proud to have been part of this opening celebration, especially because it was in the Inland Empire where Vanir began in 1964.

Vanir also received several honors and participated in client and community events. Vanir ranked #2 on the Sacramento Business Journal’s annual list of top Sacramento Area Women-Owned Businesses. Congratulations also to Alicia Nowaczyk and Lauren Sullivan who have been elected to the CMAA Northern California Executive Board and Board of Directors, respectively. Alicia will serve as Vice President, with Lauren acting as the Education Chair. Congratulations and continued successes, Alicia and Lauren!

We were fortunate to support many client activities, including the Community College Facility Coalition's 28th Annual Conference. Valleywise Health also opened its new, state-of-the-art Valleywise Community Health Center - West Maryvale. Vanir is proud to have provided integrated program management services for this beautiful facility.

Vanir celebrates the opening of the Hyatt Centric Hotel in downtown Sacramento. Vanir was proud to provide services for the lender including pre-close due diligence review, project monitoring and payment requisition review for the post-close financing. This project represents a significant contribution to Sacramento’s downtown area by restoring the historic Hotel Marshall into the new Hyatt Centric Hotel. Click here for a video tour courtesy of The Sacramento Bee.

At Vanir, we celebrate diversity, and we are pleased to recognize Native American Heritage Month, also known as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, to pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans in the United States. The first American Indian Day was declared in May 1916, and President George Bush declared this month a national heritage month in 1990. Thank you to all Native people for their contributions to culture and to this country.

We are grateful for all that happened in October and the first part of November and December promises to be just as prosperous and full of great opportunities. For all of this and each of you, I remain grateful.

With gratitude,

Dorene C. Dominguez
