A Message from Our President
Welcome to 2019's first issue of TAGlines. I've recently returned from the CASE-NAIS Conference in Philadelphia, where I moderated a panel with leadership from the Foote School. Our topic, "Hitting Singles and Doubles: Building Your Pipeline with Mid-Level Gifts," was all about making the most of every gift and stewarding every donor to realize the school's potential. Helping Foote organize and move through the campaign process has been an extremely rewarding opportunity for my colleagues and me. As with all of our clients, we are committed to working with the special characteristics of your advancement program to format a plan that is personalized, customized, and achievable.

With this issue of TAGlines we bring you new blogs, new client announcements and a special feature about one of our clients, School of the Blessed Sacrament . Interested in a specific topic we haven't covered? Send us an email and we will cover it in an upcoming blog.

As always, if we can help your institution or organization with our services, please contact us at (973) 540-1400 or  [email protected] .

An Insider's Guide to Connecting with Donors

As a development officer, being able to talk to and more importantly, listen to people is a must. A development officer should always look for ways to pair a donor's passion with a project for the organization. From one of our frontline fundraising consultants comes a few tips to make sure you are hitting all the best points when connecting with your donors.

Crossing the Finish Line: How One School Created a Campaign within a Campaign to Raise The Final Million

Sometimes after the initial excitement of a campaign wears off it can experience a plateau or even stall. When this happens, you need to find creative strategies to reenergize your donors and make it across the campaign finish line. This case study illustrates how one independent school took an opportunity to launch a campaign within the campaign to reach the finish line of the largest campaign in the school’s history.

Passion Projects: A New Era of Philanthropy

In today’s world, a growing concern is stirring regarding the idea that philanthropy—the concept of charitable giving to support nonprofit organizations and, in turn, people—is detrimental to our society. Public perception of philanthropists characterizes these “do-gooders” as distant from the problems they seek to alleviate. But philanthropists are no different than the people we interact with every day.

Expanding the Geographic Reach of Your Fundraising Efforts

For many nonprofits with a national reach, a major challenge is expanding beyond their localized donor base. Whether during a campaign or for traditional fundraising efforts, building and maintaining relationships with your national constituents is key to the organization’s growth. Ryan Quick, Director, Client Partnerships, shares a case study from a current client partner and discusses ways to expand your organization's geographic reach.

School of the Blessed Sacrament
Founded in 1903, School of the Blessed Sacrament (SBS) is a Catholic school on New York City's Upper West Side that has provided Catholic education to children of all backgrounds and faiths. In September 2019, SBS will merge with Sacred Heart of Jesus School (SHJS) and open a two-campus, one school model. The Lower School (preK 3 - 3rd Grade) will be on West 70th Street in the current SBS building and the Upper School (4th Grade - 8th Grade) moves to 456 West 52nd Street in the current SHJS building. With this merger comes a number of capital projects. TAG is working with SBS to help raise the funds for these projects.

To jump start the project, The John and Daria Barry Foundation made a gift of $1.2 million to fund a STEM center. The center will be named after the Barrys in honor of their generosity. School of the Blessed Sacrament is excited to begin construction over the summer.
