I hope you and your families and communities enjoyed a blessed Easter celebration.
The Universal Apostolic Preferences are a call to the Ignatian family to recognize God’s dream for the world and to dream in response.
Our team feels that call strongly. This year we launched Via, an introductory program for those who wish to learn more about Ignatian spirituality and the Jesuit tradition. We are in the midst of introducing When Ignatius Was Young, an 18th annotation adapted for young adults. It's this latter program that I invite you to dream about today.

“We resolve to offer the Spiritual Exercises in as many ways as possible.”
–Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ, Letter Promulgating the Universal Apostolic Preferences
| | |
When Ignatius Was Young is all about placing young adults alongside Jesus Christ and St. Ignatius. After all, Ignatius was a young adult when he underwent his conversion and it was in his thirties that he began to devise the Spiritual Exercises.
According to news stories, a considerable number of young adults have recently been returning to, or joining, the Catholic Church. We dream of new and energizing ways to extend the graces of the Exercises to modern young adults. Our dream is that each and every participant of our program has that fundamental discovery of Jesus with the help of Ignatius.
We are excited to partner with parishes, diocesan young adult ministries, universities, and other interested groups to show the way to God and to journey with young adults by sharing and promoting the Spiritual Exercises. To date, two dozen young adults have experienced When Ignatius Was Young at the following partner locations:
- St. Francis Xavier, New York City
- St. Martha / Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, Diocese of Rockville Centre
Does God’s dream move you?

St. Ignatius, An Entrepreneur of Faith: A Conversation With Hallow Tuesday, Apr. 14, 8:00pm ET
St. Ignatius's spirituality has an entrepreneurial spirit: he was discerning, adaptable, and focused on pursuing a mission of glorifying God and serving others. Ignatius ended up founding one of the most successful "startups" in the history of the Western world.
Join us for an exciting conversation with Fr. Joe Laramie, SJ, Director of Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Sedalia, Colorado, and with Nathan Crankfield of the Hallow app to explore how we can find God in all things and cultivate a healthy digital age spirituality. Dave de la Fuente, Associate Director for Ignatian Young Adult Ministries, will moderate.
