Lent invites us to slow down.
How does that feel in this noisy world we live in - externally and internally?
Lent is a sacred season to tend to our inner life—to notice where something within us is gently dying, and where new life is quietly being born.
As Henri Nouwen reminds us, "the mystery of Jesus’ death and resurrection is not only something we remember, but something we live, again and again, in our own hearts."
Midway through Lent, we invite you to step into that mystery through silence.
Our 24-Hour Lent Retreat of Silence for Women offers a simple, spacious pause—a holy interruption where nothing is required of you except your presence.
Come rest, listen, and notice what God may be stirring within you.
Sunday, February 22 – Monday, February 23
Carmelite Spiritual Center, Darien, IL
The retreat center offers single rooms with a private bath, creating space for both solitude and quiet community. You are welcome to arrive anytime after 3:00 pm on Sunday. We will begin together with dinner at 6:00 pm and conclude on Monday at 3:00 pm.
If this retreat is new to you, here’s what to expect:
It is simple. It is gentle. It is for women only, and we will have the entire center to ourselves. There is no pressure to speak, perform, or impress. This is an invitation to show up just as you are and open your heart to God’s loving presence.
Throughout the retreat, you may choose from a variety of optional experience stations—such as meditating with art, reading, life mapping, listening prayer, meditative yoga, massage, and more. Or you may choose to remain in your room, resting in silence and prayer. This time is yours to receive in the way you need most.
Retreat Cost (includes overnight stay, three meals, and materials): $270
To Register: please visit the registration webpage.
Space is limited, and this retreat usually fills quickly. Many women return year after year, drawn by the grace that unfolds in shared silence.
We are deeply grateful for the women who choose to enter this sacred pause each Lent. It is a gift to walk this season together, and we would be honored to welcome you.
Finally, might you help us?
If you can't come but know others who might, please be bold and pass along this email. Your invite to slow might be the best gift for a friend in this season.
