Hi readers,

The Class of 2025 is truly something special.

Starting college in the midst of a global pandemic is no small feat — but through uncertainty, hardship and change, this class persevered. They’re walking away from college not just with degrees, but as passionate, resilient and deeply inspiring individuals. Saying goodbye to the Loyolan’s graduating seniors has been one of the hardest goodbyes I’ve ever had to say. Each of them has left their mark in a unique and meaningful way, and their legacies will live on in this newsroom long after they’ve moved on.

To Olivia Palombo, senior reporter: My very first editor-in-chief. Thank you for welcoming me into a newsroom that has since become my second home. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your impact will never be forgotten.

To Sarah Hutter, editor-in-chief: Thank you for believing in me and for trusting me as part of your executive team. Thank you for being there for me through the highs and lows. The Loyolan won’t be the same without you and that’s a testament to the remarkable leader you’ve been.

To Jen Woo, senior marketing coordinator: Taking over the newsletter after you was a true honor. Thank you for your mentorship, your guidance and the creative spark you brought to everything you touched.

To Julia King, news contributor: Thank you for being a steady presence when I first joined the executive board. Working alongside you is something I’ll always hold close to my heart.

To Colin Browning, senior joker: Thank you for filling our newsroom with constant laughter, your bright smile and an energy that always lifted the room.

Just days away from graduation, I’ve revisited my college journal entries from move-in day to senior celebrations. The last four years of my life live somewhere between the lines of those seven journals, and I can finally see how every moment led me to where I needed to be.

Up until my college graduation, I’ve had the privilege of consistent security. So what does life look like without the next accomplishment, the next thing to check off my list?

I am way smarter than I was four years ago. That’s not in spite of some of my more embarrassing moments, but because of them.
