About the Program

This program will cover recent trends and developments in the right of publicity, including high-profile news items such as the Scarlett Johansson/OpenAI and the evolving landscape of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights in college sports. Panelists will explore how these and other developments are shaping the right of publicity and what every entertainment practitioner needs to know to navigate this complex area of law.

Douglas L. Johnson, Managing Partner of Johnson & Johnson LLP, has an extensive practice in the right of publicity and will explain the nuances and trends regarding the tort. CMG’s Chairman, Founder & CEO, Mark Roesler, who has represented over 3,000 entertainment, sports, historical, and musical personalities, will cover the right of publicity for deceased personalities. The program is moderated by Neville L. Johnson, Senior Partner of Johnson & Johnson LLP, who has extensive experience in the right of publicity and has tried to verdict two such cases.
