An Unexpected Call & Open Doors

Hello Ted,

Steve invited me to an unexpected Zoom call with a group of men who are all committed witnesses of their faith in Jesus Christ. One of the men from Southern California, Everett, shared his recent "Witness Bottom Line" testimony.

Everett's testimony deeply inspired me because it really highlighted the importance of recognizing God’s open doors in our daily lives.

How often do we overlook the people around us—those who take care of our homes, our cars, or help with repairs? Everett’s story serves as a powerful reminder and encouragement to stay alert to the daily opportunities we have to witness.

Everett's Open Door

"Good morning Ted, so great to talk with you yesterday!  I want to share about my new friend, Jeremiah Palermo. Jeremiah is a young man that works for his father as a plumber. He's an excellent plumber. I needed to replace a relief valve on my water heater so I called his dad’s company.

Jeremiah and I had an engaging conversation. I began to talk about the Lord. I asked him if he had ever read John 3:16. He said he had not, so I opened my Bible and turned to John 3:16. We sat down at the kitchen table and read the scriptures together.

I explained The Romans Road (Bible verses from the New Testament book of Romans that explain the plan of salvation through faith in Jesus), then asked him some questions regarding it. We read, “as many as received him to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name” in Romans 1:12. We then prayed together, and he prayed to receive Christ!

Afterwards I told my wife- she hugged him and we rejoiced together! I gave Jeremiah a Bible and plan to follow-up with him this week.

There’s a lot more we talked about, but I thought you would rejoice with us as you are my teacher and a great inspiration! Be encouraged today, for you are bearing much fruit and are a blessing! The seeds you have sown are germinating and many are coming to Christ through your heart and passion for Christ!

Thank you for your labor of love! Everett"

WHAT AN ENCOURAGING WITNESS TESTIMONY FROM EVERETT!

What inspired you about Everett's "Open Door" testimony?

I never want to take the opportunities for granted that God leads me to through people I come in contact with daily.

Let's make it our mission to follow the Holy Spirit's lead and walk through the Open Doors, the people we come in contact with daily- whether it be in the grocery checkout line, a serviceman, a waiter/waitress, nurses, friends, etc.

Thanks to Everett’s witness testimony more than ever this week I focused on making Jesus a part of my conversation with others:

  • while getting Tudi’s car serviced
  • an appliance repairman
  • during a conversation with someone struggling with indecision
  • during a conversation with a man burdened by his wife’s poor health
  • during a conversation with a man burdened by his daughter’s poor decisions
  • during a conversation regarding a long-time friend suffering from late-stage Alzheimer’s disease

In each case, Jesus and His word were my point of reference for direction and comfort to others. Specifically, I was able to share with others what has encouraged me in my own health struggles these last few months- special Bible verses and the song, "BE OKAY" by Lauren Daigle. (Listen by clicking on the song below).

May we allow the Lord to guide us through His Open Doors this week,

-Ted
