White Houses
White Houses
by Amy Bloom

A remarkable story about two remarkable women. Amy Bloom defines what love is, not always passionate, but always there, a good friend, someone who is truthful, will argue with you, and always love you.
Meet Amy in person on Wednesday, February 21st at 7pm!

The Great Alone
The Great Alone
by
Kristin Hannah
Having lived in Alaska (though not in the bush or Kachemak Bay), I was immediately drawn to this novel. Hannah does a knockout job describing how utterly gorgeous and unlike anyplace else Alaska is while simultaneously being an incredibly lonely and hard place. I loved reading about a father's struggle to regain his grip on reality after his return as Vietnam POW; the weird homesteaders out in the Alaskan wilderness; the love Leni has for her very troubled family.

Kayla recommends:
Lincoln in the Bardo
by George Saunders
Saunders presents an entirely different look at the life of Abraham Lincoln and his grief following the death of his son, Willie. This book spins fact, fantasy and the supernatural into a powerhouse novel sure to transport you back to the Civil War with Abe and Willie. An all-star page-turner!
