Dear SCORE:

Since 1964, SCORE has supported over 17,000,000 business owners through free mentoring and low or no-cost education. We have been able to provide these free services thanks to our federal grant and the support of our 10,000-strong volunteer force.

The President’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 calls for eliminating SCORE’s funding which impacts our ability to serve you, our clients.

While our volunteers graciously donate their time and expertise to supporting small businesses, running a program at such a large scale requires significant program funding.

So, SCORE must change how we do things.

Starting with our June 24 webinar, you will see that our national webinars cost $25, with the exception of our sponsored webinars, which will remain free to the public. Our corporate partners generously provide funding that supports our efforts, subsidizing the costs for the businesses we serve. All paid national webinar registrants will receive the link to the replay and any additional resources the presenter shares.

We know this is a departure from SCORE’s long-standing practices that may change how people across the U.S. choose to work with us. It is our goal to keep pricing low enough that our resources are still accessible to all business owners, wherever you are in your business journey.

I know this is not news that you want to hear. Frankly, it’s not news I want to share, but these are necessary steps that will help us continue delivering the mission.

SCORE appreciates your trust in our services and your understanding of these changes. Please know that while we are having to take steps to secure our financial footing going forward, we are dedicated to supporting you and your business now and in the future.

Regards,

Bridget Weston
