A Weekly Gig Harbor Update

We know this is arriving in your inbox a bit early this month -- during this time, while or community and businesses are affected by COVID-19, we'll be publishing a weekly guide each Friday covering what's open, where to order from, and what to do while practicing social distancing. Updates from the City of Gig Harbor are also included below.

Read along in good health, and should you have information to add, drop a note to the City of Gig Harbor Tourism and Communications Department, via the link below.

Opportunities to Give Back
Gig Harbor City Park Spotlight:
Wilkinson Farm Park
Located at 4118 Rosedale Street, this 17.74 acre natural area park was acquired in 2001. Officially named Helen Independence Wilkinson Farm City Park, it remains a tangible link to Gig Harbor's agrarian past, and exemplifies the hardy perseverance of one pioneer family. In 2008 the Wilkinson Barn was added to the Washington State's list of historic barns.

The Wilkinson Barn was started in 1914. In October 2001, the City of Gig Harbor purchased the site that includes a 2-story craftsman farmhouse, the well preserved gambrel roof dairy barn, three original outbuildings, a holly orchard, meadows and a large wetlands set against a steep wooded hillside.
City Updates
The City's staff is committed to delivering services to our residents, and will continue to do so. Some updates and modifications are listed below.
Please know that the City’s critical infrastructure will continue to operate without interruption.
We continue to operate and maintain our roadways in our usual manner. The City’s drinking water continues to be safe and reliable. The City’s wastewater system continues to pump and treat sewer. While we are taking precautions to maintain the health of our staff, we are fully staffed and operating as usual.

Our police department administrative offices are closed to the public for in-person business, however we continue to respond to inquiries and calls for service 24/7. Officers may be handling some calls by telephone when the situation is routine in nature.

The City Community Development Department is committed to providing development review and inspection services during this unprecedented time, unless otherwise instructed by Health Officials or the Governor. We will be continuing code enforcements throughout this time.
