Dear Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito Friends and Families,
We are thinking of you and your loved ones and hope this message finds you safe and well. As a Club supporter and/or member, we want to keep you updated on our status. As you know, Governor Newsom declared a State of Emergency in California and at that time, we decided to close ALL programs temporarily. This was not a decision that was made lightly. We will remain closed through Sunday, April 12th, 2020. Although we hope to reopen on the 13th we will continue to monitor local, state and federal guidelines and suspend programming until it is safe to reopen. As we closely monitor the COVID-19 situation, we urge you to follow the
Stay At Home
order at this time as we all work to flatten the curve together.
Like all of you, we are going through unprecedented times, which call for tough decisions, courage, and deliberation. Also, like many of you, this situation has forced employers to make drastic changes. The closing of our programs has forced us to temporarily lay off 80% of our workforce. Those who continue to work have reduced hours in an effort to keep the
heartbeat
of our strong and committed organization alive and well. Every one of our After School & Specialty Programs, (Aquatics/Rancho San Dieguito Swim Team, Athletics/BIG 8 Sports, Bulldogs Basketball, Carmel Valley Montessori School, Center for a Healthy Lifestyle, Summer Adventure Camps and Youth Arts Academy) continue to have dedicated staff who are working together in creative ways to continue to bring virtual services to our members. We believe our youth and families will need us even more than before and we will be ready for when that time comes. So while I sit here very sad about the state of the world and the affects it has on all of us, I am once again motivated, impressed and honored to serve you and work alongside all our incredible staff.
I love and miss the sounds that illuminate our Clubhouses, pools, gyms, courts, and gardens. And, I very much look forward to the smiles, high fives, laughter, chatter and “hello!” greetings from our members and their families.
Thank you for supporting our Club, youth and staff during these difficult times. We will keep you posted on our status. If there is anything I can do to help you or any questions I can answer for you, please reach out to me directly at
[email protected]
. I look forward to hearing from you and serving our 6,700 youth once again.
Warm Regards,
