Make Your Lake Management Plan Work
RSVP required
When:   Wednesday, June 20, 2018 ;  1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Where:  330 Court Street, Eagle River, WI – Courthouse Conference Room B
You’ve completed a Lake Management Plan, now what? Vilas County Land and Water Conservation staff want to help your lake organization begin those plan implementation activities. Gather together a committee and take those first steps in moving forward with your plan recommendations. Join us for an informative afternoon learning what programs are available and how grants can assist with project costs!

Clean Boats, Clean Waters
Watercraft Inspection Training
When: Friday, June 29, 2018; 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: Saint Germain Community Center
Interactions at boat landings between trained volunteers and boaters is still regarded as a good defense against the spread of aquatic invasive species. This training will be a refresher for people who have already been through a training program in the past as well as preparation for new recruits.


What’s That Green Stuff Floating There?
When:   Thursday, July 26, 2018 ;  1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Have you experienced nuisance algae blooms in your favorite swimming hole?  The public is invited to join us as we host this unique workshop about that green stuff…ALGAE!  Our speaker will be Wisconsin’s algae expert, Gina LaLiberte, from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  She will teach us about the biology and identification of different algae that we might encounter out there in our northern surface waters…from the toxic to the non-toxic varieties.

Healthy Lakes & Controlling Erosion: Tips for Waterfront Landowners
When:   Friday, August 3, 2018 ;  2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Where:  14006 Discovery Lane, Manitowish Waters, – North Lakeland Discovery Center
If you missed our first workshop in Eagle River, here’s your second chance! 
One of the best ways to keep lakes and streams healthy is to keep soil and other pollutants out. Join us for an afternoon this summer to learn about different ways to repair and prevent soil movement on your property. Vilas County Conservation staff will talk you through the various methods available to address erosion caused by stormwater runoff and how you can receive financial assistance to help cover the costs!
