June 2023 Newsletter

Hello District 2 Neighbors,

May was another busy month for us! Here's a recap, we had two more great Council meetings, as Oceanside's liaison to Cal Cities I attended their San Diego County Division meeting this month, and we had a historic swearing-in of Oceanside's new Chief of Police Kedrick Sadler, Chief Sadler is the first African- American Chief of Police in all of San Diego County! Oceanside Police Department also held a promotion ceremony to celebrate multiple officers who are climbing the ranks in the department. The San Diego North Economic Development Council held it's 10th Annual North County Economic Summit, the event brought together roughly 400 North County industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the latest national economic trends and projections.

There was a renaming ceremony for Prince Memorial Skate Park which had a great turn out from the community. I had a meeting with the Utilities Commission, Police & Fire Commission, and the North County Dispatch Joint Powers Authority which I serve on as a liaison to the City Council. I presented the Oceanside Lifeguards with a proclamation for National Beach Safety Week. I attended a Memorial Day celebration at the Veterans Association of North County. I presented certificates of recognition at the Boys & Girls Club's Award Night. Lastly, I got the opportunity to attend the Rising Star Breakfast which recognizes students who have outstanding achievements while facing significant adversity. Read below for to find out what's happening in District 2!

Sincerely,

Councilmember Rick Robinson

Local Business Highlight

A recurring section of this newsletter will be dedicated to highlighting local businesses here in Oceanside which we encourage you to support. For the June edition of this newsletter, I would like to recognize Old Mission Barbershop. This is the barbershop I visit when I need a haircut. I appreciate the old school style this establishment embraces. This second generation, family owned business has been serving Oceanside residents since 1981. Next time you need a haircut, go to 3784 Mission Ave. and tell them Councilmember Robinson sent you!
