May 2023 Newsletter

Hello District 2 Neighbors,

We got a lot done in April! We had two very productive City Council meetings. I had the opportunity to speak to members of the Oceanside Women's Club, I really appreciated the opportunity to hear their perspective on things happening in the city. I attended the City Leaders Summit in Sacramento, this event hosted by Cal Cities gives an opportunity for city officials to meet with legislators and advocate for their cities’ top priorities. I also attended a ribbon cutting for the grand opening of TrueCare's pediatric dental clinic, this expansion is in the same complex as their pediatric medical clinic. This creates a one-stop-shop where pediatric patients can schedule same-day medical and dental care at one location.

I had the opportunity to see the "Wax Museum" history event at Bonsall West Elementary School, as well as, the Congressional Art Award Ceremony at the Oceanside Museum of Art. Additionally, I had a wonderful visit to the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic where I learned about the incredible services they offer to our Veterans and their families. This past weekend I was invited to attend the first annual Asian Pacific Islander Festival which was an incredible experience, I am excited to attend this festival again next year! El Camino High School hosted the Wildcat Run Car Show fundraiser, they had over 200 cars on display! Read below for to find out what's happening in District 2!

Sincerely,

Councilmember Rick Robinson

O'SIDE DEMYSTIFIED

The second episode of "O'SIDE DEMYSTIFIED" has been released! Episode 2 features former Oceanside Police Chief Fred Armijo. You can view it on my website, which is linked at the bottom of this section. This is a podcast-like show where I will spend each episode explaining how different parts of the city operate. I plan to interview different guests who serve in various capacities around the city. The goal of this project is to give the viewer a better understanding of how things get done in our city. Stay tuned for episode 3, coming soon!

Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic in Oceanside

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at VVSD provides confidential, high-quality therapy, and local referral support services to post-9/11 veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserves, and their family members. Care is available regardless of discharge status, role while in uniform, or combat experience. Insurance or ability to pay will never be a barrier to care. I truly enjoyed my visit to this clinic and I want to get the word out on the incredible work they do. They have a great team who provide exceptional services to our Veterans. Local Business Highlight

A recurring section of this newsletter will be dedicated to highlighting local businesses here in Oceanside which we encourage you to support. For the May edition of this newsletter, I would like to recognize Beach House Winery. This is another personal favorite of mine located within District 2. They have award winning wines produced right here in Oceanside and a roof top deck with some incredible views. I thoroughly enjoy every visit and I know you will too!
