Our dental services have been available for emergency needs throughout the health crisis. We added video telehealth visits to support ongoing preventive care for children. Now, with safety enhancements to our dental clinic site complete—including air exchangers, sneeze guards, and room dividers--we are able to provide on-site dental services again.
Sadly, our acupuncture and chiropractic services which had only recently begun before the health crisis will remain closed for the time being.
Many of our patients are elderly or have chronic conditions that make them more vulnerable to complications from COVID. Our phone outreach team has called more than 6,000 vulnerable patients to ensure they have adequate medication, ask them about COVID symptoms, and assist them with food and shelter needs. These calls have also helped ease the isolation many patients are experiencing.
Our call center remains very busy--so much so that we’ve increased our telephone triage nurse services. The triage nurse is the center point for accessing care, providing instructions for at-home care for COVID, and helping patients with questions for non-COVID needs.
We are grateful to our dedicated staff for their intense work to bring about these truly radical operational changes. From those working to obtain the hard-to-get PPE so we can keep providing services, to those at our temp check tables, to those working from home and working harder than ever. More challenges lie ahead as more in our community lose health insurance coverage and the COVID pandemic affects more people. Axis is here and ready.
