AN UPDATE FROM MRS. GORR
April 1, 2020

Good morning,

If only Governor DeWine’s announcement to keep schools closed through the end of April were an April Fool’s Day joke. As difficult as it is for us to remain out of school, the governor made the difficult decision with the safety of all of Ohio’s students and faculty in his best interest. We will continue to move forward, doing our very best to ensure exceptional instruction and continuity of learning through the directed closure.

Administration/Student Town Hall Recap & Video
On Tuesday, the administration had the pleasure of hosting a town hall meeting with students during the scheduled lunch break. 70+ students and faculty members participated! Students presented questions to the panel and Mr. Carone, Mr. McKrill, Mrs. Widders and I answered their questions as openly and honestly as possible. It was great to see the faces of so many students, even though it was only over a computer screen. Because many of the questions that were asked in the parent survey were similar to the questions asked by the students, we are sharing a recording of that town hall meeting with all of you. The recording is approximately 30 minutes in length. Enjoy!
Friday, April 3 - "Catch-up Day"
Friday, April 3 was originally scheduled as a day off from school to prepare for the annual Showcase event. We have decided to reserve that day as a “catch up” day for all students. Each department has a scheduled one hour time slot for office hours. Should your student have any questions, they should plan to touch base with teachers during these set office hours. Students may also use this day to catch up on any missing assignments or overdue work.

Office Hours for Friday, April 3
Social Studies : 8:00-9:00
Mathematics : 9:00-10:00
Science : 10:00-11:00
Theology : 11:00-12:00
English : 12:00-1:00
World Languages : 1:00-2:00
Electives : 2:00-3:00

Thank you for all of your support through the first three weeks of online learning. We will continue to make adjustments based on recommendations from the Ohio Department of Education and feedback from our students and parents. We are all blessed to be a part of the St. Vincent-St. Mary family.
