An Update from Superintendent Michael Simeck

Last week, upon my recommendation, the District 115 Board of Education voted to remove former teacher and theater manager David Miller’s name from the theater and Alumni Wall of Fame amidst credible allegations of sexual misconduct lodged by several LFHS alumni.

While that vote was an important step, we realize there is more hard work ahead.

Additionally, we have engaged in staff, parent/guardian, student, alumni, and community outreach to determine who may have additional relevant information. We have heard from many.

I want to assure everyone reaching out to the District that your input is critical as we continue to do everything we can to provide for a safe learning environment and one in which people feel that their allegations of misconduct are taken seriously.

We are working expeditiously to review each and every communication we have received.

As educators and school leaders, we must continue to fulfill our responsibility to root out and report misconduct of any kind. We will continue to keep students, parents, staff, and community members apprised on the progress of our review and next steps.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Simeck
Superintendent
