An Update from the Bishop Search Committee

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in Christ Jesus amid these days of reflection and recommitment known as Lent!

By way of reminder, the period for clergy and laity to nominate individuals for the ninth Bishop of Florida is now closed, as the deadline was Monday, March 9, 2026.

The period for priests and bishops who wish to apply for consideration for election as the ninth Bishop of Florida is still open through Monday, March 23, 2026.

Also online, for one and all to ponder, is the liturgy for the Ordination of a Bishop. Its readings, vows, and prayers sum up what both we and our new bishop will promise to God and each other as we embark together on the next leg of our pilgrimage as a diocese. Finally, we urge you once again to pray daily to God to lead us to the bishop that he, in his divine wisdom that sees farther and more deeply than our limited human vision, intends for us. For as the Hebrew sages of yore counsel us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Thank you for your continued prayers as we all tread a twofold path together this Lent — toward both Easter and a new bishop!

Gratefully,

The Bishop Search Committee

Episcopal Diocese of Florida
